LUNCHEON TO COMMEMORATE 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF D-DAY

MIDLAND, Texas (September 22, 2004) – The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) and the American Airpower Heritage Museum (AAHM) will host a "Save the Girls" luncheon featuring a musical tribute to the 60 th anniversary of D-Day , 11:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, at the CAF Hangar.

The luncheon, which is a fundraising event for the museum's nose art collection, will serve as a prelude to the Fina-CAF AIRSHO 2004, scheduled to take place Oct. 2-3, 2004, at Midland International Airport . Special guests at the luncheon will be the Texas A&M Singing Cadets and General Paul Tibbets, commanding officer of the 509 th Composite Bomb Group and the pilot of the B-29 "Enola Gay" that dropped the first atomic bomb over Hiroshima , Japan .

Internationally known as the "Voice of Aggieland," the Singing Cadets is Texas A&M's premiere men's chorus consisting of roughly 70 members. The Singing Cadets will perform 60 to 70 concerts this year throughout Texas and the United States .

Aside from the opportunity to hear remarks from Tibbets and enjoy entertainment provided by the Singing Cadets, attendees to the luncheon will be treated to a musical program composed by local Midlander Greg Witt. The Lee High School Honor Orchestra will perform the program. Witt also composed a musical tribute in celebration of 100 years of powered flight at last year's luncheon.

Cost of luncheon tickets is $30. Tickets may be purchased by calling Jill Easterling at (432) 563-1000, ext. 2260. Advance purchase of tickets is encouraged, however, tickets will remain on sale until they are sold out.
