Masters of Disaster to Headline Fina-CAF AIRSHO 2004
MIDLAND,
Texas (September 22, 2004) – One of the airshow industry's premiere acts will be making its first-time appearance at the Fina-CAF AIRSHO. The act, notoriously named "Masters of Disaster," will converge upon the Fina-CAF AIRSHO 2004, scheduled to take place Oct. 2-3, 2004, at Midland International Airport to treat airshow attendees to one of the most entertaining and exhilarating aerial and ground performances to hit the airshow circuit.
A special press conference featuring the Masters of Disaster will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Oct. 1, at Hangar H, next to the Midland College hangar at Midland International Airport ( Wright Drive and Windecker). The media is encouraged to see a special preview performance of the act 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 1, during the Special Show for Special People at CAF Headquarters. This will be the recommended time for all media interested in interviewing these three performers.
The Masters of Disaster unites award-winning pilots Jimmy Franklin and Jim LeRoy with world-class jet truckdriver Kent Shockley. Formed in August 2002, the act was created by these top airshow performers in an effort to reinvent barnstorming and create a new level of airshow entertainment. This unique act combines original individual solo acts, multi-plane dogfights and a number of races with he airplanes racing against the jet truck.
The Masters of Disaster will perform both days at AIRSHO. Franklin, LeRoy and Shockley will also perform individually at the Fina-CAF AIRSHO 2004.
One of the most well-known performers in the industry, Franklin flies the world's only jet-powered biplane - a T-38 jet engine added to the underbelly of a 1940 Waco biplane. Franklin also performs with the world's only jet wingwalker - his son Kyle.
LeRoy, considered by many as the premier solo aerobatic act in the business today, has pushed flying to a new and unsurpassed level. Flying the Bulldog Pitts S2S, Leroy puts on an explosive routine that provides non-stop action from start to finish.
An AIRSHO favorite, the Shockwave Triple Engine truck, runs over 300 mph and holds the world record in a quarter mile for trucks at 256 mph in just 6.36 seconds. At 36,000 horsepower, the Shockwave has enough power to accelerate at 3 Gs vertical.
